Pregnant women should refrain from using cannabis products. Research has not conclusively revealed an amount that is safe to use during pregnancy. As such, it is best to not consume cannabis unless you consult with a healthcare practitioner. Like alcohol and tobacco, the compounds in cannabis products are circulated throughout the body when consumed and may produce effects on the body. When pregnant, the body will also deliver these chemicals to the fetus, carried through the mother’s blood. The compounds in cannabis will also be present in breast milk. This is not safe either for the fetus or newly born child and may cause health problems.
